Rupina La Pass Tsum Valley Trek is one of the best trekking routes in Nepal. Manaslu region of Nepal shows you the less traveled trails of Lower Manaslu leading to the Rupina La pass 4610M. We can discover the culture, Himalayan scenery, wildlife, and vegetation constituting these Marvellous gifted areas of nature.

Considered one of the harder trekking routes in Nepal, Rupina La is gifted are wonderful views of the Himalayas better than any other trail here. The Rupina La Tsum Valley trek commences from the lively capital of Kathmandu where we will prepare for the trek. Leaving the valley, we will start the trek from Gorkha. Our trail begins smoothly and plain sections in the starting days. After that gradually moves into more rocky and a bit challenging. Talking with the locals and living their life of them, the trail takes us closer to the hill tribes of Nepal than ever. We may pass a couple of days without significant settlements which is an accomplishment of the modern era.

Daily itinerary

Hotel

After landing in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), our representative will approach you. After a brief introduction, take a lovely drive to your hotel. We will also have a short trek orientation session of Manaslu. Take an evening walk around markets in Thamel. Try a traditional Nepali cuisine for your dinner and rest for the day. Overnight at a hotel in Thamel.


Hotel

After breakfast, our day will be divided into cultural tour and trek preparation today. Meet your guides for the trek and prepare the gears and items of equipment for Rupina La and Tsum valley trek. Drive to the heritage and religious sites near the hotel and explore them. Return to your hotel and rest for the day here. Overnight at a hotel in Thamel.


7-8 hrs Camp

After breakfast, we will drive out of the Kathmandu Valley from Thankot and head towards the historic city of Gorkha. This is the place from where the unification of today's Nepal started. You will take brief road stops for snacks and views and reach Gyampesal in the evening. Overnight at a lodge in Gyampesal, Gorkha.


5-6 hrs Tent

You will start your trek today with the great views of green hills and scenic Nature view. Your trail moves up and down in the green hills and through the terraced hill farmlands. The views of the Himalayas open up as we move near to Thotnery via Deurali. We will rest for the day here at Thotnery. Overnight at a lodge in Thotnery.


6-7 hrs Tent

You can visit the local destinations around Thotnery and start our trek to Darche Danda. This Danda is one of the best viewpoints in the whole Manaslu region. The majestic view of sunrise over the green hills and the Himalayas will be a sight to relive. Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Bharasikhar, Gangapurna, Sringi Himal, Lamtang, Himalchuli, Buddha Himal, and the whole Ganesh Himal range is visible on a clear day from the top. We will continue our trek from here to another beautiful village of Nambai Kharka. Overnight at a lodge in Nambai Kharka.


5-6 hrs Tent

You will start early today and head towards the village of Barpak today. In the first part, we will walk to the Bosu Kang. Taking brief breaks in the way and enjoying the views surrounding the trail, we will advance to the Gurung village of Barpak. Barpak is one of the most significant commercial points of the region. In the evening head out of the tour of Barpak and rest for the day. Overnight at a lodge in Barpak.


Tent

Barpak is a settlement in the top of the hill with settlers mostly of Ghale and Gurung tribe. As the epicenter of the massive earthquake of 2015, Barpak has recovered quite well of the Devastation now. Most of the people in the village are serving or ex-military and the famous Gurkha regiment. The houses here are stone patched, and the reconstructed ones are well built with modern equipment here. You can do some of the nearby short hikes today and experience the local lifestyle in Barpak. Overnight at a lodge in Barpak village.


6-7 hrs Tent

We will start our uphill walk from today to Gai Kharka. We will walk by some settlements and villages in the first part of the trek. Nearing Kharka, the villages become sparse, and the views get better to us. We will drop to the Tumsiak village and follow the trail from here beside the Daraudi Khola. In the evening we will reach Gai Kharka and set up our tent for the night here. Overnight at a tent in Gai Kharka.


4-5 hrs Tent

Our walk of today is short and gives us the best views of the Himalayas. After walking for a couple of hours, we will reach our lunch destination, Sanrung Kharka. This is a pleasant destination with a fresh breeze and fantastic landscape scenery. We will walk up to Phedi in the second part of the day today. You can hike further up from here which is helpful for acclimatization. Overnight at a tent in Gai Kharka.


6-7 hrs Tent

We will start early today and begin our climb to Rupina La pass. We will walk beside the ice-covered sheet and challenging trail to the Pass. We will have a brief stop at midway and continue our walk again to the top. From the top here we can get the breathtaking views of Gorkha Himal, Himchuli, Bouddha Himal, and Peak 29 alongside the significant mountains of the region. After some time in Rupina La, we will start the descent to Boudha Himal base camp. The trail is steep and small in some places so be careful walking here too. Overnight at a tent in Boudha Himal Base Camp.


5-6 hrs Tent

We will start our day with a beautiful Himalayan sunrise at the base camp. In our walk to Jhon Kharka today we will have brief stops in multiple viewpoints in this trail region too. The path runs beside the ice sheets to Jharang and catches up with one through the banks of Chhuling and Rebing Khola to Jhong Kharka. Overnight at a tent in Jhong Kharka.


4-5 hrs Tent

We will pass some of the most beautiful Rhododendron forests today and reach the village of Nyak. Most of today's trail is gradually descending and more relaxed too. We will have a short rest in the day camp and follow the path beside the Chhilung Khola. Passing the villages of Serang and Nyak, we will reach Nyak village in the afternoon and rest for a day at a lodge here.


5-6 hrs Tent

We will start our day descending to Nyak Phedi. From here, we will walk beside the Budi Gandaki River and to the Lokpa village. Our trail will soon meet with one of the paths leading to the lower Tsum valley. Walking through the thick pine forest and grassy lands we will enter the Tsum valley at Lokpa. View the sunset and rest for the day here. Overnight at a lodge in Lokpa.


6-7 hrs Tent

We will descend to a box bridge and continue to walk in our trail through the forest. After walking for a while, we will cross a suspension bridge from where the trail starts to ease up. We will reach the village of Chumling after a couple of hours of walking. Small settlements, Chortens, and open lands are most encountered after crossing Chumling in this trek. From here we will cross the suspension bridge over and walk through the farmlands to Rainjam. Overnight at Rainjam.


5-6 hrs Tent

After breakfast, we will cross a suspension bridge over the Sarpu Khola and continue our walk to Gho. We will spend some time in the Gompa of Gho and follow our trail to Chhekampark. Chhekampark is our Lunch Destination for the day and is one of the most significant villages of Tsum valley. Passing a local school in the way, we will walk to Rachen Gompa today. Stroll around Rechen Gompa before your dinner and rest for the day. Overnight at a lodge in rechen Gompa.


4-5 hrs Tent

We can start late visiting some of the local destinations today. Milarepa Cave and the Nearby Gompa are some of the attractions here. Continuing our trek we will take our lunch in the next stop at Chhule. We will cross the Shiar Khola and continue the left trail to Mu Gompa. Mu Gompa is the best place to view the Himalayan sunset and landscape of Tsum Valley. Overnight at a lodge in Mu Gompa.


5-6 hrs Tent

We will start our day early and take a brief tour of Mu Gompa. Watching the monks here, performing their daily rites and prayers is a wonderful experience. We will return to Chhekam Park by the same trail in the afternoon passing Lamagaon and Chhule in the way. Rest for the day and try some local delicacies here in Chekkampark. Overnight at a lodge in Chhekampark.


6-7 hrs Tent

Start your trek today with a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. After Breakfast, we will start our hike for the day to the settlement of Gho. We have an option to choose between two trails back to Lokpa. Both of these trails are good with one being shorter and another providing the opportunities to pass through new village and settlements. Walking beside the Shiar Khola, we will reach the Lokpa village in the late afternoon. Overnight at a lodge in Lokpa.


6-7 hrs Tent

We will descend further to Jagat today in the trek. We will walk in the main trail of the Manaslu circuit and reach Ekle Bhatti. From here we will pass the village of Philim, sirdibas, and Salleri. We will cross the Pang Khola bridge from here and head towards the Gurung village of Jagat. Try some local cuisine here and rest for the day. Overnight at a lodge in Jagat.


5-6 hrs Lodge

We will walk to Dovan after breakfast in the first portion of the trek. From here we will follow the main trail to Tatopani and rest for a while in the hot springs there. We will have our lunch here at Tatopani. The second half of our trek goes past beautiful hill farmlands and to the Khorlabesi village. We will pass Khorlabesi and then walk to the village of Macchakhola. Overnight at a lodge in Macchakhola.


5-6 hrs Lodge

Our trail of today passes through terraced farms and fields continuing the descent to Labu best. We are altering the village to stay for the night on the return trail for a wide range of experiences of the trek. In this section of the trek path, we will pass multiple beautiful waterfalls beside the mighty Budi Gandaki River. Stopping and gulping quick snacks in the Gurung villages. We will continue our walk from here to Soti Khola which is a couple of hours long. Overnight at a hotel in Soti Khola.


6-7 hrs Hotel

We will travel back to Kathmandu from Soti khola today. We will take the local bus taking us from here to Kathmandu. The first section will pass through the gravel and off-road section to Dhading Besi/ Gorkha Bazar. From here, we can enjoy the hill highway ride back to Kathmandu. After reaching your hotel try some of the local Nepali cuisine and music in the restaurants/ Pubs here. Shop some souvenirs from the markets in Thamel and rest for the day. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
